₹1250 crore COVID relief package announced by Karnataka government

On Wednesday Karnataka government announced a 1250 crore COVID relief package for various sectors, the government has also announced ₹2000 for workers who are in the unorganized sector and ₹10000 per hectare for farmers who cultivate flowers i.e. floriculture farmers.


Regardless of that, as the current limitations have influenced the work of those with unorganized sector and farmers, to alleviate its effect we are declaring a help program of more than Rs 1,250 crore," Yediyurappa said.


Addressing reporters here, he said the administration was declaring the package in spite of the state confronting financial imperatives and is remaining by individuals during this troublesome time.


With the current lockdown finishing right on time one week from now, a few chiefs, including ministers, have communicated their thoughts for expanding it, to control the spread of COVID. 

Drilling down subtleties of the alleviation package, the CM said Rs 10,000 help will be given to cultivators for per hectare misfortune. It will profit around 20,000 ranchers and may cost Rs 12.73 crore. 


For the misfortunes endured by leafy food producers, Rs 10,000 for each ha, monetary help will be given to cultivators, limiting.

Addressing the media, Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar battled that the state government had reported the bundle simply because of the pressing factor of the Sonia Gandhi-drove party. Calling it "completely inadequate", he requested that Rs.10,000 ought to be straightforwardly moved to the financial balances of every single destitute individual. 


Then, previous CM and JD(S) pioneer HD Kumaraswamy guaranteed that the whole dispensed to ranchers and cab drivers was a lot lesser than a year ago's package.


Roadside vendors, those registered under the Aatma Nirbhar package will be given Rs 2,000 each, he said, adding that it will benefit about 2.20 lakh people and cost Rs 44 crore. 

Also, artists and art teams will be given Rs 3,000 each, benefiting 16,095 beneficiaries and will cost Rs 4.82 crore, he further added, while listing out several other announcements.


Opposition parties including Congress have been urging the state government to provide relief to those whose livelihood has been affected by the COVID-19 induced shutdown.

The Yediyurappa government in Karnataka was one of the first states governments to announce an economic relief package during the first wave last year, even ahead of the Centre.


Those who have applied for BPL ration cards but haven't received them yet will be given free 10-kilo rice for May and June while those awaiting APL cards will be given subsidized 10-kilo rice at Rs 15 per kilo. 


The Karnataka government last year during the first COVID19 lockdown had announced an economic relief package of Rs 1610 crore which included electricity subsidies for MSMEs, citizens, and small businesses apart from financial assistance to vulnerable sections.
